Hey there!
ReplyDeleteTop compilation Bryan. Particular highlights for me: High Tide - what a track! I thought the Family track was lovely and old whatisface's voice was less vibrato-y and annoying and suited the song really well, I wish he had sung like that more often! I totally see what Jimmy means about the Make-Up track sounding like My Little Red Book! I also love that Stereolab track, very pretty. I am going to heap some praise on Macca now, it's not a popular view, but I like a lot some of his non-Beatles stuff, and not just Jet by Wings! Dear Boy sounds quite Elliott Smith-ish. I had never heard Bill Fay before and really like the sort of Brian Wilson meets David Bowie vibe, very unusual. I will be checking out more of his stuff. No Bryan compilation would be complete without either John Barry or Burt Bacharach! I flipping love that version of Don't go breaking my heart.
