A triumph, Jack! I really enjoyed this. So many good tracks, Bill Callahan (sublime, a great album ender), The Kipper Family, Uncle Tupelo, Ricky D, good to hear the Vaselines version, I only knew the Nirvana one! Did I detect an extra track before Johnny Cash, sounded very like Jeffrey Lewis? I v much enjoyed that too, but it's not on the track listing & I wasn't qoo% sure it was Jeffrey Lewis.
ReplyDeleteHank Williams tune was great too. One of my favourites was cheeky old Loudon, had me really laughing! A rum old chap eh? I have a great (and very saucy) sea shanty by him. I sense he is a bit of a hedonist! I haven't heard half man half biscuit in years either, great to hear them again, I like the idea that god gave us life, but unfortunately, also Lionel Blair! If there was to be another volume I would politely request the inclusion of Job's Tears by the Incredible String Band! Or anything by them really, it's all spiritual, and I am somewhat obsessed. Anyways, top work dude!
